Order Integrity prevents hackers from changing such things as the price charged for items on the site.
Order Integrity is a feature that protects merchants in ways other digital payment solutions do not. Our Certified Secure Server protects your transactions with 128-bit SSL, just like other processors. But unlike other processors, we don't stop there.
Secure SSL will do a lot to protect your customer's credit card and other personal information from an eavesdropping third party hacker. With SSL, that hacker will be unable to read any information they intercept on the Internet, unless they can guess the Server's 128-bit encryption key.
However, SSL does nothing to defend you from a hacker that targets your site directly. SSL only encrypts the content between the server and the browser. Once the page has gotten to the browser, a hacker can do whatever they want to it. The hacker need only choose to view the page source to see and circumvent the intent of the merchant. For example, they could lower the price of an item from $300 to $3. And there's nothing an SSL can do to detect or prevent it.
Order Integrity protects merchants from this sort of fraud by applying 128-bit encryption to your page itself. The Order Integrity encrypts a 128-bit "key" that embeds details about the product, including the price. If the details of the transaction do not match the Order Integrity Key, the server knows that someone has legitimately changed the page. The system collects the hacker's credit card number, etc. and then rejects the transaction.
